My wife and I have been using a 1950s aluminium egg slicer that used to be my mother’s. We have had it for nearly 50 years (Letters, 2 October). We have no children. • In the early 1980s, local peace groups organised a camp outside RAF Fairford to protest at the presence of B-52 bombers. Perhaps we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble and been much more effective if we had simply parked three white vans near the fence (Report, 6 October).
