Thank you so much for joining me for this game. Man City thought they had all three points in the bag when Shaw scored a penalty but Elimbi Gilbert’s introduction and subsequent goal meant they shared the spoils. Former Manchester City captain Steph Houghton told BBC Two on if her ex-club needed to win today:

I think from a confidence point of view yes. I think to go into the next game with five points would have obviously been more beneficial but I think in general the group will be really disappointed with the way that they concede.

I think when you get to 84 minutes, your top scorer puts a penalty away, you’ve played well in the second half, probably created more than PSG. PSG will be more happy with a point.

I still think we are in control of our own fate. Win those three games and you qualify.

That is three draws from three Champions League games for City now which means they are 10th in the table. PSG are sixth with two draws and a win.

In the other 8pm GMT kick-off, Barcelona have thumped HB Køge 8-0! A huge statement from the defending champions.

Full time: Man City 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain

What an ending to this game. It looked like a nailed on conclusion that Man City were going to come away with the win after Shaw scored a penalty but Elimbi Gilbert caught City napping to share the points. This will be hugely disappointing to City who conceded a late equaliser against United last weekend.

90 + 3 min: Kanjinga tries to find a winner for the visitors but the flag was up.

90 + 2 min: City are really pressing here, PSG are just booting the ball absolutely anywhere away from goal to rescue a point away from home.

90 + 1 min: There will be four minutes added.

90 min: They do say you are your most vulnerable just after you score and my word that was impressive. A huge blow for City.

The PSG sub makes an incredible run and she just keeps going, slotting it into the bottom corner. That was too easy.

GOAL! Man City 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain (Elimbi Gilbert 88)

WOW.

Updated

87 min: PSG will struggle to find a response here I think, they haven’t had a clear attacking chance for the last 10 minutes. But you never know, it may happen.

It wasn’t a bad effort from Peda to try and save that, I think she got a fingertip to it but Shaw’s effort was just too powerful.

PENALTY! Man City 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain (Shaw 85)

VAR did check if Shaw was offside in the build-up to the foul but she wasn’t. The Jamaica international had the chance to convert the opportunity herself and she slots it.

84 min: City have been awarded a penalty as Shaw was caught by Mbock in the box. Wow, what an error from the French defender.

Updated

83 min: City’s latest chance was on target from Fowler but it wasn’t powerful enough to trouble Peda.

82 min: Mbock is down and back up quickly after contact with Hemp in City’s box and so PSG can clear.

80 min: PSG have to defend with 10 as City take the free kick but it’s easily cleared by the visitors. City do have another chance through Shaw but it’s over the bar. Confirmation that Karchaoui is being replaced by Gilbert.

78 min: Karchaoui really screamed in pain after that clash, hopefully it isn’t anything too serious. She is shaking her head as she walks off of the pitch, it hasn’t been confirmed but I don’t believe she will continue.

76 min: Groenen fouls Fujino and City have a free kick on half way. The hosts build from deep and eventually Groenen gives away another foul. Karchaoui has an extended period on the pitch after fouling Charles, she needs some treatment.

74 min: The City subs really did add another level to their game but that seems to have ebbed away now after those two Shaw chances were snuffed out. While it hasn’t always been pretty, the PSG defence deserves its plaudits tonight.

72 min: Both sides have chances that are missed, City have been the better side this game but they will share the spoils as things stand.

Updated

70 min: How has Shaw not scored there? That’s an unlucky bounce of the ball. Hemp delivered a peach of a ball and Shaw heads it, it' bounces on the pitch and out.

68 min: The corner is well taken and Fowler gets a chance but it’s blocked, the PSG defence are having everything thrown at them right now. It looked as though they had finally got their goal but Shaw is ruled offside.

67 min: Wow what a save from Peda. City find Shaw in some space, she takes a touch and launches a shot from outside of the area and the keeper does enough to push it wide. A corner to come.

66 min: City are putting more pace into their game but Groenen does well to marshal the ball to Peda. The former Manchester United player looks uncomfortable afterwards, grabbing her face but she is okay to continue. PSG makes their first change with Morissaint off for Kanjinga.

Updated

64 min: Charles makes an immediate impact with a cross popped into the box but the chance goes begging.

62 min: The longer this match goes on, the more it feels like neither side are going to score. Or I will be very wrong and the game will open up into a goal fest. City makes three subs with Clinton, Casparji and Knaak for Beney, Charles and Fowler.

60 min: Karchaoui makes a great run but she is fouled by Greenwood, who receives a yellow card for the foul. The set piece is in a good spot and Karchaoui takes it. It’s lifted over the wall but it’s just over the top corner.

58 min: Hemp and Greenwood connect beautifully down the left and Hemp gets a perfectly timed cross in but Samoura again defends well as Fujino tried to get a shot on target but failed.

56 min: The pace of this game hasn’t slowed as such but it feels a bit more scrappy. Some bright moments for both teams but nothing is sticking.

54 min: End-to-end football ensues but fans are yet to see a meaninful chance.

52 min: The corner ball comes in but Shaw is shoved to the floor, nothing is given. Knaak makes contact with the ball but her header is wide.

51 min: Shaw was so close to closing down Samoura in the box but PSG somehow manage to organise a scramble defence, it ends with City being awarded another corner.

50 min: Here come City again but Osteras deflects the ball out of play for a corner. The delivery from Casparji is short but it eventually comes in and Shaw sees it out for a goal kick.

48 min: This half is very much the same story as the first: City in control but PSG growing.

46 min: There are no changes for either side at half-time. City look to get this half off to a quick start with Fujino having a chance which goes wide.

Back underway: Man City 0-0 Paris Saint-Germain

Will we see a winner in this second half? All to come.

In the other 8pm GMT kick-off, Barcelona are beating Køge 2-0.

Half-time: Man City 0-0 Paris Saint-Germain

Well, City will be wondering how they didn’t score in the opening 25 minutes. Hemp has been incredible but they are yet to find a way through. PSG are growing into this and they will look to break the deadlock in the second 45.

45 + 4 min: Carmona gives away a corner late on in the first half and it’s popped in. It’s headed goalward but Peda saves.

45 + 3 min: There is a slight delay to half-time as Samoura is receiving some treatment for a stray elbow. She looks okay to continue.

45 + 1 min: There will be one minute added.

44 min: Greenwood takes the corner and the deliver, again, is very good but no one is found in the box and it’s out for a goal kick.

43 min: Hemp makes a great run as she tries to spark something towards the end of this half, she attempts a cross but Samoura blocks it for a corner.

42 min: A lot of the game now being played in the midfield, if City don’t find a break through they will be frustrated at half-time.

40 min: Echegini has been desperate to have a chance and that’s clear when it comes, she launches it goalward but it is very wide of target.

39 min: While PSG are having more joy with the ball, their attack feels rushed and forced. That may be down to City’s good defence but they just need more patience in their game right now.

37 min: Now it is City’s time to defend and they do a good job, containing them in the midfield for large periods. It eventually comes to Groenen who takes a shot but it’s wide.

35 min: The aim for City is clear, get the ball to Shaw in the box. A long range pass almost finds the striker who stretches to try and reach it but Samoura does expertly well to see it out for a corner. The delivery from Greenwood is good but PSG defends well.

33 min: The game has become a bit more loose now, City are still having the lionshare of the ball but their chances have slowed with PSG feeling a little more confident.

Updated

31 min: We have Tom Garry in Manchester tonight and he has sent this through from the Joie Stadium:

Birmingham City’s former PSG winger Océane Hurtré is in the stands watching some of her former team-mates tonight. The France international played in the League Cup last night, in a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa. She’s chatting to some of the PSG staff as she takes in the action in a relatively quiet stand. The overall turnout doesn’t look great tonight, to be honest, and the atmosphere is low key.

29 min: Peda is saved by her backline and the keeper has a loose pass but the defenders mop up the space to make it impossible for City to create a chance.

27 min: City half appeal for a penalty as Shaw hits the floor in the box and nothing is given. While the hosts still have a firm grip on this encounter but PSG are starting to get a bit more possession. They do well with it too with Morissaint getting a shot away which is just wide.

25 min: Carmona handballs as PSG tried to put some attacking phases together and City are able to clear.

23 min: Samoura comes good again for PSG as Hemp pops in another ball into the box, the England international has been absolutely brilliant in the opening stages.

21 min: Yamashita comes out of the goal to contain a long pass from Feller, the panicked pass showing how rushed the visitors are in attack. Whereas City are being quite patient in their build-up.

19 min: City are in control of this match, all they are lacking is a difference on the scoreboard so far. So many nice exhanges between players with Hemp the latest putting a ball wide but this pressure will surely bring a goal if they keep it up.

17 min: City win a corner and Casparji is the taker. She whips it in, Peda punches away but City keeps the pressure on. However, PSG smother the chance and the threat is over.

15 min: Holy moly that would have been a screamer if Shaw had slotted that in. A lovely chipped pass from Hemp finds her teammates who takes a one-touch finish but it goes wide. Best chance of the evening so far.

14 min: Feller does very well up against Rose, winning the ball and dribbling it up the pitch. She gets in a shooting position but Yamashita saves easily.

12 min: PSG have their first shot with Karchaoui taking a quick punt but it’s way wide, the French club throwing their first punch of the evening though. City, meanwhile, hit back immediately with Hemp trying to lay it off to Shaw but Samoura clears really well.

Updated

10 min: Knaak has an overhit but it’s no surprise with this the German international’s first game in four months.

9 min: Greenwood is over the ball to take the set piece and the delivery is good, it goes beyond Peda but no City player can take advantage.

8 min: City’s tight press has been impressive so far. PSG have little time on the ball going forward and it has meant they have had no touches in the box. Hemp now has a good run and she wins a free kick in a good position.

6 min: City are definitely the brighter in these early stages, they have time to create a clinical chance but so far they are lacking that final touch.

4 min: City have the first real chance as they try and find Shaw in the box but Karchaoui marshals the threat well. The hosts come again with Fujino finding the Jamaica international but she can’t connect with the cross.

2 min: Can you believe this is the first time these two clubs have met? That fun fact blew my mind a bit. Both teams starting slowly, trying to figure the other out.

Preamble

Hello and welcome to this Women’s Champions League clash between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. The English club are searching for their first win of the European campaign after two draws, while the French club will be aiming to build on their winning momentum.

PSG drew 1-1 with Real Madrid in their opening game but they beat OH Leuven 5-1 last time out, while Man City have drawn against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich so far.

Not much separates the two clubs in terms of domestic form either with both in second in the table of their respective leagues. This is marked out to be a close encounter but City will have the slight edge as they are at home.

The team news will be announced shortly so stay tuned for that before kick-off at 8pm GMT.
